About Rylance Holiday Homes

We are very much a  family enterprise.

Tim and I (Jennifer), both come from family operated business backgrounds and property investment. Tim was a graduate of UQ Hospitality Management and I was a registered nurse in my previous life, so we have married our service backgrounds with our love of beautiful homes to bring you Rylance Brisbane Homes.

Meg (our girl child) and Billy (the male version) have inherited the genetic predisposition to be service oriented, to love property and find a way to have both. Meg is the youngest editor with MY Kitchen Rules and has also done last season on The Block (yay). Being seasonal, she is looking ahead to have a supplementary string to her financial bow given how potentially insecure the industry she loves can be. Billy is the officially crowned "rising star" of Ray White South Brisbane, having won the Rookie of the Year award in his first year and is now in the UK "showing the poms how to play rugby".

We have our Spice Dogs - Chilli and Basil. Black and tan dachshunds, so we know that pets are people too. We can't say we are a family friendly business if you can't bring some of your family with you to stay in our homes.  We have some conditions to you bringing them, (we have some conditions for people too), and have developed quite a good "responsible pet owner radar" and apply it ruthlessly!

Our houses journey began with student rentals, at one point we offered 9 homes. One of our Fairfield properties got it's feet (and legs and some torso) wet in the January 2011 floods. Something about clouds and silver linings comes to mind with what happened next. Having missed the new semester student intake with the repairs, we decided to try the medium stay market. This home was a huge hit. It was virtually 2 homes in one with 10 bedrooms and 4 bathrooms, separate outdoor areas for up and downstairs. We discovered there was an unmet demand for accommodation for large groups. Families wanting a private space to be together whilst their home is repaired, tradesmen on temporary assignment to refloor the Myer centre who need a bedroom each and the sense of going "home" at the end of the day, drama and dance groups in Brisbane for a season.

The best explanation for the demand of what we offered came from Sue, a dance teacher who had been touring with 8-12yo girls for 15 years. In her words "for many years we stayed in motels with 2-3 girls per room. Exhausted after another day of competition I had to stay awake until all the girls had finished running excitedly from room to room. It was not safe, it was expensive to eat out for every meal, there was no communal gathering space for us. I was a wreck. With your large home we can put on a spag bol for all, watch a movie in PJs together and have a family atmosphere. Our performance results have improved, our costs have gone down and Fenton Street has probably extended the years I am able to tour with my dancers."

We heard the downside of what we offered as well. You wanted air conditioning, preferred to be closer to the city and a pool was a major bonus. A bit of bling would not go astray. Along with the modern fresh feel and look, we use features or items you may not buy yourself or do in your own home, but in a holiday situation it's great to have a bit of fun in your surroundings. However, not all people travel in herds of 15+ people. So we needed flexible properties that would offer multiple home options for all family and group sizes.

So we gradually sold up and reinvested in properties of which we are so proud, (as in the total absence of humility, proud!). We bought them with you and your needs and desires, as the primary focus. Of course, it's a bonus that these homes can be reused in the never never future of our post HH lives, but Meg and Billy are coming up behind. Maybe these fabulous properties will continue to be used in this way for another generation?

Initially we concentrated on short term stays, but now focus on mid term stays for people living in Brisbane who require a fully furnished home and don't want a traditional lease arrangement.

In 2013, we came, we saw, we loved, so we bought Lambert House. We will let the pictures tell this story. Or as one guest Pam said, "it's even better than the photos". In November 2014.

Meg and Billy had been looking in the southside inner city rim for some time for the perfect investment property of their own, when Billy spotted the Auchenflower property outside of their target zone, that is now our Milton Mews. It was the day of the auction. Tim was away, Meg in Sydney, so Billy and I found ourselves onsite and emotionally invested.... and subsequently financially as well.

So here we are with several beautiful homes we want to share with you. We offer multiple living situations. From a studio for 1, homes with 2, 3, 4, 5, 6 bedrooms or take the whole block with our 15 bedroom Carrington Manor. Every home has air conditioning, parking, dishwasher, ceiling fans. Added touches include games for the children, the supply of basic disposables like cleaning products and condiments, wifi, Foxtel cable TV, iPads for your use, DVDs, books etc.  All offer an excuse for you to remain on site and enjoy your stay. And one of our most important features, coded keypad entry with your own chosen code. NO keys!

Our homes are really personal. Every item in every room was selected by us, (well mostly me), from 100s of locations and they are added to regularly, just like you do with your own home. I can spend hours walking around our homes in the final check for a new arrival. If you could hug a home, then that's what I do. It is really personal for me. It matters that the spoons are all soldiered up, that the paintings are straight, the power points dusted, the bulbs aren't blown, there's an extension cord with the iron, there's a power socket available for your phone at each bed. If presenting cushions was an Olympic sport, then I have earned the 5 rings tattoo! We like to close each door for your initial inspection, so you get the reward of discovering each space for yourself.

What we offer is a unique opportunity to live as we do and experience Brisbane life - in Kangaroo Point, Spring Hill and Auchenflower.

Enjoy.

Tim, Jenny, Meg, Billy, Chilli and Basil Rylance

Our family, looking after yours.

Jennifer was a great host whose obvious love for this house and attention to every detail contributed to the best holiday home stay we have had. We will definitely be back. Jonesy NSW (Lambert House)

Hi Rylance Holiday Homes, Thank you for hosting us and our little dog!!! This is a comfortable, central place to stay. Brisbane city and all the necessities are close by. Traveling bus or car is convenient from this unit. Caitlin from Canada (Tallywood Flat 3).

Great house to stay at, family members that lived in Brisbane loved the place. I had a dog who loved the house, my kids had loads of fun which was a plus.
